About Armstrong Elementary

History & Namesake

Neil Armstrong

Armstrong Elementary opened for the 1969-1970 school year and is located in Conroe, Texas. Mr. Albert Moorhead thought the new round school should be named after the astronaut, Neil A. Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, after he made the historic footstep on the moon on July 20, 1969.

At Armstrong Elementary, our Astros shine bright by following our Guidelines for Success every day — being Responsible, Respectful, Positive, Kind, and demonstrating a Growth Mindset. These core values guide how we learn, interact, and grow together as a school community.

  • Responsible – Astros take ownership of their learning and actions. They come prepared, make good choices, and follow through on their commitments.

  • Positive – Astros approach challenges with a can-do attitude. They encourage one another and look for the good in every situation.

  • Kind – Astros care for others through their words and actions. They lend a helping hand, include others, and make our school a welcoming place for all.

  • Growth Mindset – Astros believe effort leads to improvement! They embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and celebrate progress as they reach for their goals.
