What is the Accelerated Reader Program?

The Accelerated Reader Program allows the student to challenge and push themselves to the next level of reading.  At the beginning of the year, each student takes the S.T.A.R. Test.   The S.T.A.R. test results tell the student and teachers what reading level is best for them.  Our books are color coded so that the students can check out a book on their reading level.

After reading their book, students will take a test at their classroom computer or in the library.  The AR test has 5 to 20 questions about the book's character, story, and details.  If they pass the test, they are given points for completion of the book and the score. When a student has read and tested at his level independently, his teacher will allow him to progress to the next reading level.

Students who reach their AR point goal with and 80% comprehension level are treated to a movie at the end of the year.  The goals for each grade level are:  2nd grade - 50 points, 3rd Grade - 75 points, 4th Grade - 100 points.

We have just upgraded to Accelerated Reader Enterprise which allows access to over 100,000 quizzes.

We encourage parents to visit our library and to see first hand our motivated students.
